DCR DWSP Deer Harvest Reporting

Find out how to report deer harvested on DCR Division of Water Supply Protection's Watershed Management lands.

Harvest data is important for understanding the deer populations on DCR Division of Water Supply Protection lands.  Information collected about the deer harvest helps DCR with the management and logistics of the hunts held on the Quabbin Reservoir, Wachusett Reservoir, Ware River, and Sudbury Reservoir watersheds, which provide drinking water to 2.7 million people. 

It is a LEGAL REQUIREMENT to submit your harvest information to MassWildlife either in-person or through the MassFishHunt website.

Harvest Data Entry Requirements: Quabbin Two-day Controlled Deer Hunt

Your deer must be brought to the on-site Quabbin check station. Make sure to have your buck tag, or appropriate Quabbin Zone-specific antlerless deer permits when bringing your deer to the check station. DWSP Biologists will submit your harvest info to MassFishHunt and seal your deer. 

Harvest Data Entry Requirements: Quabbin Shotgun Season Deer Hunts

There is no on-site Quabbin check station for these hunts. Please bring your harvest to a registered MA check station during the first week of shotgun season. Please let the attendants know you harvested the deer at Quabbin. 

During the second week, bring your deer in-person to a check station, or report your harvest within 48 hours online to MassFishHunt.

• All antlerless deer harvested must have a Quabbin Antlerless Deer Permit.
• For antlered deer, answer “YES” when asked “Was this deer harvested in a Quabbin special hunt?” 

Harvest Data Entry Requirements: Other Watershed Lands Deer Hunts

For all other Watershed Lands Deer Hunts (Quabbin Off-Reservation, Ware River, Wachusett Reservoir, and Sudbury Reservoir), please report your harvest online to MassFishHunt within 48 hours.

Please indicate in the comments that your deer was harvested in DCR-DWSP lands.
