Division of Crop and Pest Services

The Division of Crop and Pest Services regulates farm products and plant industries, pesticides, apiaries, and hemp, while also preventing, detecting, and responding to invasive pests.

The Division of Crop and Pest Services consists of five programs responsible for administering and enforcing laws and regulations related to agriculture, plant health, pesticides, pollinators, hemp, and invasive pests within the Commonwealth. The Farm Products and Plant Industries Program oversees the inspection, licensing, and regulation of certain farm products and plant industries. The Pesticides Program regulates pesticide use within the Commonwealth in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and is responsible for pesticide product registration, the licensing and certification of pesticide applicators and dealers, and oversight of certain pesticide uses. The Apiary Program promotes and protects the health of the Commonwealth’s honey bee population through inspection, monitoring, and other regulatory activities. The Hemp Program oversees matters related to hemp, including the licensing and inspection of hemp production and processing activities in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. The Invasive Pest Program oversees the detection, prevention, management, and response to invasive pests that threaten the Commonwealth’s agricultural and natural resources.
