Get Ready for Tax Year 2023

The official word from the IRS is in. The Tax Year 2023 filing season will open on January 29, 2024 for electronic returns. As we typically do, we’ll do a soft opening to test the system and make sure things are running optimally. We want to remind everyone that e-file is the fastest and safest way to file. Just ask the 93% of MA taxpayers who chose to e-file their returns last year.

What’s in the 2023 Tax Cuts Legislation?

Back in October, legislation was passed to bring new tax cuts to personal income and corporate excise taxpayers in the Commonwealth.  We created a 2023 Tax Cuts Legislation webpage with information on what’s included, like the increases to the earned income tax credit, senior circuit breaker credit, and the new child & family tax credit, along with amendments to the estate tax. Working Draft TIR: Provisions in the 2023 Tax Relief Legislation provides additional guidance.
