SSP payment methods and schedule
If you are eligible, you will get SSP payments in the same way you get SSI payments, either by check or by direct deposit.
SSP payments are sent on the same schedule as the federal SSI payment, generally on the first of the month. Those who receive both SSI and SSP receive two payments, one from the Social Security Administration (SSA) and one from SSP.
Checks
If you get your SSP payment by check, it will come from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through M&T Bank. You can cash your SSP check by bringing two forms of identification at any M&T Bank location.
You do not have to have an M&T Bank account.
Direct Deposit
If you get your SSP payment by direct deposit, it will likely show a deposit on your bank statement from “COMM OF MASS SSP SUPP.”
