Am I eligible for funding?
Eligibility criteria for funding vary depending on the financial assistance category you are interested in (Small Residential, Affordable Multifamily, or Community Shared Solar). Please use the MASFA eligibility pre-screening tool here to determine your eligibility.
(Note: The results of using this tool do not qualify as official income verification documentation for the purpose of applying for financial assistance.)
When can I apply for funding?
Details on how to apply for MASFA funding are still under consideration. More information will become available on the MASFA Home Page, and more details on how to receive updates can be found on the Get Involved page.
How long will funding be available for?
MASFA is a five-year funding opportunity, due to expire mid-2029.
Will the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts (DBRA) and the Build America Buy America Act (BABA) apply to MASFA-financed projects?
As a publicly-funded initiative, we expect that DBRA/BABA will apply to some projects financed through MASFA. A full assessment of DBRA/BABA applicability to different program streams will be made available on the Information for Industry page in the near future.
What programs will be offered under MASFA?
MASFA will include a suite of funding opportunities for residents and solar developers to help drive solar deployment in Massachusetts. For more information please see:
Will energy storage be funded under MASFA?
Currently none of the MASFA program streams include financing for energy storage, largely due to the challenge that the expense of such technologies poses for meeting the required 20% household energy bill savings. However, MASFA projects can be paired with other funding opportunities; please visit MassCEC’s Clean Energy Lives Here to understand more about funding pathways for energy storage.
What is the difference between SFA and MASFA?
Solar for All (SFA) is the title of the federal funding opportunity, available across the country. Massachusetts Solar for All (MASFA) is the umbrella name under which this funding is being deployed within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
For more information, see the About MASFA page.
How can my business participate in MASFA?
There are many opportunities for the solar industry to support the deployment of MASFA programming. Please visit our Information for Industry page to learn more about potential opportunities.
