To be considered for reciprocity, applicants must provide documentation demonstrating successful completion of the NCSC Consortium certification process in good standing through a participating member state. OLA will review the applicant’s credentials, examination results, certification status, and any additional documentation required to verify eligibility.
Approval of reciprocity is contingent upon meeting all Massachusetts Trial Court credentialing requirements, including compliance with applicable policies, procedures, ethical standards, and any additional requirements established by OLA. Reciprocity recognizes equivalent certification earned through the NCSC Consortium while ensuring that all court interpreters serving in the Massachusetts Trial Court maintain the qualifications and professionalism necessary to provide accurate, impartial, and effective language access services.
The Office of Language Access reserves the right to request additional documentation or require applicants to complete supplemental credentialing requirements as necessary to meet Massachusetts Trial Court standards.
To acquire reciprocity from the Massachusetts OLA Credentialing program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must have a valid Court Interpreter Certification Status from an approved State Court Interpreter Regulation Program that follows the National Center for State Courts Certification Guidelines.
- Must complete a Massachusetts orientation and ethics workshop.
- Must read and sign acknowledgement of having read the OLA Standards and Procedures promulgated in August of 2024.
