Review Cod Industry-Based Survey tow locations

We ask that fixed gear fishermen move their gear as we conduct Industry-Based trawl Surveys. DMF provides tow locations and maps to facilitate the movement of fixed gear.

Overview

The survey vessel F/V Miss Emily will be completing tows 200 feet wide and 1.5 nautical miles long. The vessel will be as close as possible to the designated tow locations in the table below. Many of the tows will not be in a straight line and may follow an edge or substrate type. We request that fishermen help by temporarily clearing these locations of fixed gear. If we cannot complete a designated tow, we will try an alternate tow nearby. To receive updates on survey plans and progress, sign up for text alerts. F/V Miss Emily will monitor VHF Channel 16 while the survey is underway. You can contact the F/V Miss Emily via vessel cell phone at (781) 801-8888.

You can find maps for the next round of Cod IBS tows in the table below. Each map has specific latitude and longitude coordinates of monthly tow locations.

If you have any survey-related questions, please contact Bill Hoffman at (617) 727-3336 ext. 106 or bill.hoffman@state.ma.us.

We thank you for your cooperation in temporarily removing gear from tow locations.
