Description
The Rockdale Highlands WMA contains a variety of different terrain ranging from 870' to 1365' in elevation. Majority of the acreage is oak-white pine-hemlock forest and northern hardwood forests, intermingled with oak hickory, hemlock-hardwood, and red oak–sugar maple transition forest. The WMA does contain a couple of forested wetlands located on the southern half of Mohawk Lake and Mohawk Brook.
Location, access, & parking
The WMA spans across the West Stockbridge-Stockbridge town lines with frontage on Mohawk Lake Road, Dugway/Glendale Road, and Great Barrington Road (Rt 41). Parking is available at a couple pull-offs on Dugway/Glendale Road and at a parking area on the Great Barrington Road section. See WMA Map.
Note: WMA's are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.
Habitat management
The small field near Great Barrington Road will be periodically mowed to remain as open habitat.

Hunting & fishing opportunities
This property contains excellent deer hunting opportunities. Wild turkey and black bear are also found throughout the WMA.
Mohawk Brook is a Coldwater Fish Resource containing brook trout.
