Here you will find a list of policy investigations affecting competitive suppliers and electricity brokers. Several of these filings implement consumer protections. You will also find filings from the electric companies related to the restructured industry.

Investigations into competitive supply companies

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) monitors and enforces compliance with the DPU’s consumer protection rules and regulations through informal and formal investigations. On the settlements between competitive supply companies and the DPU webpage, you will find a list of all formal and informal investigations of competitive supply companies that resulted in a settlement.

Order of delegation

The competitive supply license renewal applications are not signed by the Commission.  These administrative orders outline who at the DPU signs the license renewal application, which is typically the director of the Electric Power Division

Restructured industry filings

In 1997, the Massachusetts Legislature passed the Electric Restructuring Act (Act). With this Act, you have the option to select an entity other than your electric company for supply. To implement the Act, the DPU issued regulations. The electric companies then made the filings below to comply with the DPU's restructuring regulations.
