The link to apply is available here: https://neessexcit.org/trainings/psychological-first-aid-for-dispatchers/ Psychological First Aid is a modular, non-linear approach that provides individuals with basic skills to assist survivors in the immediate aftermath of a disaster or potentially traumatic event. It is an evidence-informed approach based on safety, calming, hope, connection, and self-efficacy. PFA is intended to help reduce the reactions of survivors, while also meeting any practical needs. PFA is not a crisis intervention or clinical treatment and does not prevent or treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PFA does assist in reducing trauma responses among survivors and bridging them to ongoing services and support as needed. This PFA training has been tailored specifically for Dispatchers as their experiences within the community and for themselves are unique. Participants will learn how to use these skills with callers, peers and themselves.
