Station C-5, SP Sturbridge, established in 1960 to take over from the previous Charlton Barracks, is strategically situated on Route 20 right next to Route 84. This station oversees three distinct patrols, with the "West Patrol" covering the towns of Brimfield, Holland, and Wales, all of which have part-time police departments. In these towns, C-5 provides the majority of police services. Additionally, this patrol area includes the towns of Palmer and Monson, as well as the Brimfield State Forest and the Monson State Hospital. The total patrol jurisdiction of C-5 spans twelve towns from Palmer to Auburn, bordering Connecticut. Its primary highways include Route 84, a crucial link between New York and Boston, and Route 395, which stretches from the Connecticut border to Auburn.
