News  Rescission of "Trial Court Revised Policy for Videoconferencing"

Effective June 1, 2026, the "Trial Court Revised Policy for Videoconferencing" will be rescinded and replaced by updated individual standing orders on remote hearings.

Order of rescission

Pursuant to G.L. c. 211B, § 9, it is hereby ORDERED that the Massachusetts Trial Court Policy entitled, “Trial Court Revised Policy for Videoconferencing (Revised November 2019)” (the “Policy”) is hereby rescinded, effective June 1, 2026.

The Policy contains outdated information and has been replaced by updated individual Standing Orders on Remote Hearings issued by the Chief Justices of each Trial Court Department.

Standing orders

The updated standing orders are as follows:

  • Executive Office of the Trial Court

    The Executive Office of the Trial Court facilitates communication and enables joint leadership of the Trial Court by the Chief Justice of the Trial Court and the Court Administrator.
  • Massachusetts Court System

    The Massachusetts court system consists of the Supreme Judicial Court, the Appeals Court, the Executive Office of the Trial Court, the 7 Trial Court departments, the Massachusetts Probation Service, and the Office of Jury Commissioner.
