Workers' Compensation Advisory Council (WCAC)

The Workers' Compensation Advisory Council (WCAC) plays an important role in making sure the Massachusetts workers' compensation system runs efficiently and effectively. We monitor and make recommendations on workers' compensation bills, and report on all aspects of the workers' compensation system.

Who we serve

The WCAC is responsible for overseeing the Workers' Compensation system in Massachusetts. The work we do helps injured workers, employers in Massachusetts, insurers, and attorneys.

We evaluate the Workers Compensation Trust Fund's budget, which covers injured workers whose employer had no insurance, to make sure there is enough coverage for current and future claims.

We provide testimony on workers' compensation rate filings that impact insurers and employers, evaluate the qualifications of administrative judges and administrative law judges, conduct studies on workers' compensation issues, review and provide testimony to the legislature on workers' compensation bills, and review employer assessments that fund the Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA).
