What started in 2006 at a handful of parks in Western Mass has grown into a statewide annual event. Park Serve Day is an opportunity for the public to give back by picking a park, giving a day, and making a difference.

The First Park Serve Day was held on May 13, 2006 at six parks in Western Mass

By 2007, DCR was ready to take the program statewide.

Starting with six parks in Western Mass in 2006, Park Serve Day 2007 went statewide with 52 parks and 1,330 volunteers cleaning beaches, picking up litter, painting buildings, planting flowers, cleaning trails, and more. 

Since then, Park Serve Day has had over 40,000 volunteers participate.

A Legacy of Stewardship

From its inception to now, Park Serve Day has had incredible support.

Volunteers come every year to work with staff and prepare DCR properties for the busy spring and summer seasons.
