Poison Prevention

The mission of the MA & RI Poison Center is to provide assistance and expertise in the medical diagnosis, management and prevention of poisonings in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The Poison Prevention Program is administered by the Injury Prevention and Control Program in partnership with the MA & RI Poison Center. On average each year, the Center manages approximately 45,500 poison exposure and information calls and provides Poison Safety trainings and presentations to caregivers of young children, healthcare professionals, and older adults. The Center is located at the Boston Children's Hospital, and operates a toll-free, 24-hour hotline for poisoning emergencies and information at (800) 222-1222.
