What you need to know

This project involves roadway safety, pedestrian and cyclist, and traffic signal improvements along the Route 114 corridor between Waverly Road and Willow/Mill Street in North Andover.

The work includes the reconstruction of Route 114/Turnpike Street, and the replacement and addition of sidewalks, curb ramps, and shared‑use paths, with connections to local streets, businesses, and Merrimack College. This project also includes improvements to roadway drainage, landscaping, hardscaping, and the relocation of utilities within the corridor.

The project installs one new traffic signal, at the Turnpike Street and Hillside Road intersection, and reconstructs eight existing signals. Traffic signals within the project limits will be interconnected with signal control and emergency vehicle priority equipment. This system automatically adjusts the timing of the lights based on real‑time traffic conditions to keep vehicles moving more efficiently.
