Accessible canoeing

Our adaptive canoeing program offers equipment, instruction, adaptations, and staff support for canoeing in Massachusetts state parks.

Our canoeing program provides a sense of exploration in the wilderness. Outriggers and seats add stability to your canoe if needed, and our lifeguards join you as you paddle with a group.

The cost for canoeing programs is $8, and pre-registration is required. All participants must sign a release form and meet our essential eligibility criteria for paddling.

Canoeing dates and locations

Out of an abundance of caution due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, the 2020 adaptive canoeing season has been suspended. Below is our 2019 adaptive canoeing program schedule.

A group of canoes are moving past a wooded island. One of the canoes has pontoons and an umbrella on it. Another canoe has a seat with back and side support. The shore is lushly green and covered in trees.
Join us for adaptive canoeing on the Quabbin Reservoir this summer, and fish right from your canoe!

Our adaptive canoeing program is offered in July and August each summer. The program launches from Fishing Area 3, Gate 43 of the Quabbin Reservoir in Hardwick.
