We are here to help parents and caregivers share the financial responsibility for their children by establishing parentage, and getting, changing, and fulfilling support orders.

Even More Money for Families!
As of Nov. 4, 2026, we are changing how we distribute state-owed past-due child support and interest for periods when a family received cash assistance from the Department of Transitional Assistance. As of Oct. 1, 2026, child support payments received toward past-due support and interest owed to the Commonwealth will be paid instead to the family. We are hopeful that this change will improve the lives of families and provide greater economic stability for those we serve. See our Frequently Asked Questions.

More Money for Families!
As of November 1, 2025, Child Support Services is changing how it distributes child support payments when the source of the payment is federal tax intercept. For families that used to get cash assistance from the Department of Transitional Assistance, federal tax intercepts were first paid to any past-due support owed to the Commonwealth. Going forward, child support payments from federal tax intercepts will be paid first to the family for current monthly support and any past-due support. Only after the family is paid will federal tax intercepts be used to pay any remaining past-due support owed to the Commonwealth.
