Don't become a statistic.

The numbers don't lie.

It takes the average train over a mile to stop.
Some trains can travel over 100 miles per hour.
Trains can overhang the tracks by 3 or more feet per side.
1 in 2 incidents occur near warning equipment, like gates and lights.
More than 1,000 people die every year from being struck by trains.

Rail Safety Tips from DPU

Always expect a train.
Only cross train tracks at designated pedestrian or roadway crossings.
At a station, stay behind the yellow tactile line when a train is approaching.
Don't walk or drive around warning gates when they're down.
