Stroke Prevention and Control

Learn how to reduce your risk for stroke. And learn how to act FAST to recognize the signs and symptoms of stroke.

We educate residents on the many ways they can reduce their risk of disability and death due to heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure. These include, quitting smoking, reducing risk for high blood pressure, knowing the signs and symptoms of stroke, improving the quality of stroke care through The Paul Coverdell National Acute Stroke Program, and improving physical activity and nutrition habits, with special attention to reducing sodium.
