Testing for COVID-19 is widely available in Massachusetts

You should take a test for COVID-19 if you develop any symptoms of COVID-19 or 5 days following a known close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Where can I get a test?

Tests are available at pharmacies, retailers, and various health care locations. Visit covid.gov/tests for free at-home tests. Use the CDC search tool to find a PCR testing site. Learn more about the different types of COVID-19 testing.

Using a COVID-19 Rapid Test

You can take a rapid test at home or anywhere.

They are easy to use and give you rapid results. Self-tests may be used if you have COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to an individual with COVID-19. PCR tests are not required to confirm rapid antigen test results.

What do I do if my test is positive? 

Contact your healthcare provider immediately to talk about any treatments you may need.  You will need to stay home and isolate yourself from others for 5 days or until you are no longer symptomatic,  and tell your close contacts that they may have been exposed.

Who should take a test? 

You should take a test if you develop any symptoms of COVID-19, even if they are mild, or if you are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
