Tobacco Treatment Guidelines

Simple, evidence-based, step-by-step guidelines to counseling and treatment of smokers are included in the QuitWorks Implementation Kit, available free of charge from the Commonwealth. The kit provides everything needed to put an office-based, tobacco-cessation treatment program in place. In addition to the provider materials, the kit includes an Office Implementation Guide to assist in setting up an effective system to assess and refer all patients. The Kit is complete with patient-education materials and enrollment forms with consent for the free QuitWorks telephone counseling services for your patients. This includes fax-back reports to your practice on all referrals. The QuitWorks Kits are available for order or downloading, online at www.quitworks.org , or call 1-800-TryToStop (1-800-879-8678).

The Practical Guide: Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults

This Guide was developed cooperatively by the North American Association for the Study of Obesity (NAASO) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). It is based on the Clinical Guidelines on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults: Evidence Report developed by the NHLBI Expert Panel and released in June 1998. The Expert Panel used an evidence-based methodology to develop key recommendations for assessing and treating overweight and obese patients. The goal of the Practical Guide is to provide the tools you need to effectively manage your overweight and obese adult patients.
