New Required Training for Reopening Child Care
As one element of reopening child care programs in Massachusetts, all educators that work in programs that are reopening following the COVID-19 closure are required to take “Guidance for Reopening Child Care”. This course provides best practices and guidance associated with EEC Minimum Requirements for Health and Safety. This 60 minute program also includes useful reference documents and links to valuable resources on the Internet.
After completing this program:
- You will be prepared to conduct your program in a way that protects children, families and staff
- You will be able to revise and follow new procedures for child drop-off and pick-up,
- You will be able to engage children in activities which ensure health and safety, and to modify or eliminate those which increase transmission risk
- You will understand and be prepared to share these requirements with families and fellow staff members
EEC Essentials Training in the StrongStart Online PDS
The StrongStart Online PDS has a learning management system that houses mandatory and supplemental training for early education and care program staff and can record staff completion of professional development coursework. Included in the StrongStart Online PDS is a new "EEC Essentials" training comprised of 12 modules on topics that early education staff need to know about, such as health, safety, and child development.
Effective June 6, 2019 all staff in EEC child care programs must take the new EEC Essentials training course. For information on how to create a new user account in the EEC's StrongStart Online PDS, see the “Key Actions” sections below.
