Apply for a Conservation & Management Permit

If during the MESA Project Review it is determined that a project will result in a "Take" of a state-listed species, the project may be eligible for a Conservation and Management Permit.
Upon receipt of a complete CMP Application, permits will be issued within 30 days.

What you need

A Conservation & Management Permit (321 CMR 10.23; CMP) is only required after we have determined, based on a MESA Project Review, that the proposed project will result in a "Take" of state-listed species. Refer to the application guidelines for the necessary information. See MESA Conservation & Management Permit Overview for additional information. We strongly encourage you to request a pre-filing consultation with us prior to submitting a CMP Application. 

Fees

Name Fee Unit
Simple Conservation & Management Permit (less than 5 acres of disturbance) $600 each project
Intermediate Conservation & Management Permit (5 to 20 acres of disturbance) $4,000 each project
Complex Conservation & Management Permit (More than 20 acres of disturbance or project requires wetlands variance) $6,000 each project
Linear Conservation & Management Permit (Projects greater than 1 mile in length) $7,500 each project

How to apply

Mail the Application for MESA Conservation & Management Permit, along with supporting documents (as outlined in application) along with the required fee (check made payable to Comm. of MA - NHESP) to the attention of Regulatory Review.
