Replace your Massachusetts ID card

If your Massachusetts ID (Mass ID) has been lost or stolen, you should replace it as soon as possible.
The RMV will mail your replacement Mass ID to your mailing address on record with 7-10 days.

What you need   for Replace your Massachusetts ID card

The quickest and easiest way is to order your replacement is online.  You will need to provide your:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • ID number or last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
  • Payment
  • Email address

Please note: a name change cannot be done online. An in-person visit to a Service Center is required to capture your new signature. You can make an appointment here.

If your ID will expire in less than a year, you can renew your Massachusetts ID instead of replacing it. 

You cannot cancel or return a duplicate ID after ordering it.
