The Details of Respond to a Notice of Hearing on an Application for Criminal Complaint
What you need for Respond to a Notice of Hearing on an Application for Criminal Complaint
The Office of Jury Commissioner (OJC) sends a Notice of Hearing on an Application for Criminal Complaint to anyone who hasn't resolved their delinquency within 30 days of their Notice of Delinquency. You'll need to attend a show cause hearing before the clerk magistrate of the appropriate court, where you may be given the opportunity to fulfill your jury duty obligation.
You can resolve your delinquency and avoid the show cause hearing by either:
- Explaining by phone why you didn't appear and rescheduling your service
- Providing evidence for why you should be disqualified, such as a doctor's letter, by mail or fax
Once you serve jury duty or provide valid proof of disqualification, your delinquency is resolved. If your juror group is canceled on the day of jury duty, you'll need to reschedule your service, otherwise your delinquency won't be resolved. If you send proof of disqualification, you'll need to confirm that the OJC has received your proof of disqualification and accepted it. If they don't accept it, you're still obligated to attend the hearing.
