Brook Farm Historic Site Resource Management Plan

The Resource Management Plan for Brook Farm Historic Site is available for public review and comment

Brook Farm Historic Site is located along the east bank of the Charles River in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood. This National Historic Landmark, 146 acres of rolling fields, woodlands, and wetlands, was acquired by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1988. The site has been home to Indigenous peoples, colonial farms, a transcendentalist utopian community, Civil War camp, an orphanage, and a state park. In its role as a park, Brook Farm protects important cultural and natural resources, and provides visitors with access to protected open space within the Commonwealth’s largest city.

Public Input

Public input is an integral component of the RMP planning process. Meetings and comment pages provide a forum within the process to enhance communication and cooperation with park visitors, partners, and surrounding communities.

A virtual public meeting was held on July 31, 2025, to solicit public input regarding recreation, stewardship of resources, and park facilities.

Written public comment was accepted through August 30, 2025.

A second public meeting, to solicit input on the Draft Resource Management Plan for Brook Farm Historic Site, is being held March 4, 2026. Comments on the draft RMP will be accepted through close of business April 3, 2026. Please check the DCR Public Meetings Information page for updates, as available.
