Commission on Step Therapy Protocols

Chapter 254 of the Acts of 2022 formed a Commission on Step Therapy Protocols to monitor the activities of step therapy processes used by Massachusetts insurance carriers in the review of pharmaceutical benefits.

Step therapy is a utilization management policy or program that establishes the specific sequence in which a prescription drug for a specified medical condition is covered by an insurance carrier.
