All HMA Mix Designs shall expire on: March 1, 2026
Below is the list of asphalt plants, and their mix designs, that were approved at the time that this page was posted. A plant's approval may be rescinded at any point prior to the expiration date if it fails to demonstrate continued compliance with the Standard Specifications.
Not all asphalt plants are listed for the same level of work. Please take note of what section the production facility is listed for prior to use on a project. An asphalt plant must meet requirements and be listed below for Section 450 in order to supply mix to a MassDOT project.
To be an approved plant the facility must:
- Submit a Quality Systems Manual.
- Be audited by the Research & Materials Section (RMS).
- Use a NETTCP qualified laboratory. The NETTCP qualification must show that the laboratory is able to perform all required test methods. The list of specific tests can be found in Subsection M3.13.0 of the Standard Specifications. The list of approved Laboratory test methods can be found at NETTCP.com.
- Possess MassDOT approved Superpave mix designs. MassDOT RMS will issue a mix design approval letter for each year that the mix is approved to be produced. The list is below linked to the plant location.
Approval of HMA mix designs shall be defined as Department prequalification and verification of the HMA mix design’s conformance to the materials requirements, design targets, and testing limits specified herein. The Contractor shall be responsible for selecting and placing approved HMA mix designs that meet the desired HMA properties for the Contractor, per the contract document special provisions, standard specifications, specified application, approved design plans, and construction standard details.
