Do you qualify as a Protected Veteran?
To qualify for protected veterans status, you must fall into one of the following categories:
- Disabled veterans
- Veterans who have been separated from the military within the past three years (recently separated veterans)
- Veterans who received an Armed Forces service medal while on active duty
- Veterans who served in active duty during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge was authorized
If you are an applicant and wish to self-identify as a Protected Veteran, complete the Applicant Affirmative Action Self-Identification Form and submit your form to the Diversity Officer / ADA Coordinator listed on the job posting for which you are applying. If you are an employee of the Commonwealth and wish to change your information, complete the Employee Information Change Form.

Are you a Vietnam Era Veteran (VEV)?
You may be eligible for affirmative action status if you are a veteran with more than ninety (90) days active duty service, any part of which occurred between August 5, 1964 and May 7, 1975. To receive a certification of eligibility, complete the VEV Certificate Form (Exclusive link for State Employees only).
