About

Swim Safe Massachusetts is a collaboration, launched in Summer 2021, that brings together a diverse set of state agencies and non-profit entities working together to share vital safety information and raise public awareness around how to keep everyone safe in and around the water. The partnership includes:

  • Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs
  • Executive Office of Public Safety and Security
  • Department of Conservation and Recreation
  • Department of Public Health
  • Massachusetts Environmental Police
  • Boys and Girls Club of Massachusetts Alliance
  • New England Swimming
  • American Red Cross Massachusetts
  • Alliance of Massachusetts YMCAs
  • YWCA Northeastern Massachusetts
Stay Cool, Stay Safe. Taking a dip is a fun and healthy way to beat the heat. To make sure everyone stays safe, remember: Water is best enjoyed with friends. Buddy up before you go in, and designate a sober swimmer! Drowning is quieter and faster than you think. Keep a close eye on friends and family. Swimming is a skill - know your limits and use a personal flotation device if necessary. Stay in the shallows, where you’ll have access to helpers if something goes wrong. If something bad happens: Call 911
