If you’ve been impacted by a layoff, the MassHire Rapid Response team is here to support you every step of the way.
We’ll help you set up a MassHire JobQuest account—an easy-to-use online job board to find openings across the state or right in your area. While you search for your next role, we’ll guide you through applying for unemployment insurance so you can get the support you need.
MassHire Rapid Response services can help you after disasters, including large-scale emergencies that affect multiple businesses, smaller emergencies that affect a single business, and natural disasters such as tornadoes and floods. Services include managing layoffs and finding ways to prevent them. We also coordinate our services with local government leaders and other partners such as the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
WorkShare Program
The WorkShare Program is an alternative to layoffs, where businesses can divide available work between affected employees instead of laying off workers. It allows employees to receive a part of their unemployment insurance (UI) benefits while working reduced hours.
The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program is a federal program established under the Trade Act of 1974, as amended. The TAA Program provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of competition from imports.
