The purpose of 550 CMR 6.00 is to establish rules governing the use of force by law enforcement officers. 550 CMR 6.00 is promulgated requiring the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission and the Municipal Police Training Committee to jointly promulgate rules and regulations governing the use of force by law enforcement officers.
