Rideshare driver eligibility requirements

Learn if you are eligible to drive for a rideshare or transportation network company (TNC). Your driving experience and your driving record may affect your eligibility.

Your driving experience

  • You do not need a Massachusetts driver license to be a TNC driver in Massachusetts.
  • You must be at least 21 years old.
  • If you are over the age of 23, you may drive for a TNC if you hold a license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States, and your license is at least 1 year old.
  • If you are under the age of 23, you may drive for a TNC if you hold a license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States, and your license is at least 3 years old.

Your driving record

You are not eligible to be a TNC Driver if you have any of the driving offenses or violations found in the Suitability Standard.
