Saltwater Angler Education Program

The Saltwater Angler Education Program was created to engage the public in saltwater fishing in Massachusetts. Our mission is to teach responsible fishing in an enthusiastic environment and create avid anglers.

Let’s Go Fishing youth fishing clinics

These are 3 hour long educational events intended for children 7 to 15 years old. We work with a group of participants to provide learning through fishing activities. The clinic will cover:

  • How to Cast
  • Fish Prints
  • Knot Tying
  • Fish Measuring
  • Fun and Educational Handouts
  • Responsible Fishing Tips
  • Catch and Release Fishing

Angler education financial assistance

Groups look to expand saltwater angler education programs in Massachusetts may be eligible for financial assistance. Funds can be used to:

  • Create recreational saltwater angling education events
  • Develop educational programs

Funds are limited and awarded based upon review of the completed application form. To apply, complete and return the assistance proposal form.

Fishing seminars

We offers educational seminars geared towards adults who would like to learn more about saltwater fishing. If you're interested in hosting a seminar, please let us know so we can tailor a class to the needs of your group. Possible seminars include:

  • Saltwater fishing 101:  The basics     
  • Understanding fishing equipment for each species  
  • Targeting saltwater species in Massachusetts and where to fish    
  • How to filet and cook saltwater fish of Massachusetts
