Department of Fish and Game

The Department of Fish and Game’s mission is to conserve the Commonwealth’s abundant marine and freshwater fisheries, wildlife, plants, and natural communities, as well as the habitats that support them, for the benefit and enjoyment of all people.

Department of Industrial Accidents

The Department of Industrial Accident (DIA) oversees the Massachusetts workers’ compensation system. We work to ensure that those involved have the resources needed to participate by assisting injured workers, employers, insurers, attorneys, and health care providers in following the Massachusetts workers’ compensation laws and regulations.

Department of Labor Relations

The DLR is responsible for promoting stable, productive and cooperative relationships between public employers and their represented employees by administering and enforcing the Commonwealth's collective bargaining laws.

Department of Public Health

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health prevents illness, injury, and premature death, assures access to high quality public health and health care services, and promotes wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth. We provide programs to address specific diseases and conditions and offer services to address the needs of vulnerable populations. We also develop, implement, promote, and enforce policies to assure that the conditions under which people live are most conducive to health and enable people to make healthy choices.

Department of Public Utilities

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) oversees investor-owned electric power, natural gas, and water companies in Massachusetts. In addition, the DPU regulates the safety of bus companies, moving companies, and transportation network companies. We also oversee the safety of natural gas pipelines.

Department of Telecommunications and Cable

The Department of Telecommunications and Cable oversees the telecommunications and cable industries in Massachusetts, working to ensure that residents receive high-quality communications services at just and reasonable rates while promoting sustainable competition in the communications marketplace.

Department of Transitional Assistance

The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) assists and empowers low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, improve their quality of life, and achieve long term economic self-sufficiency. DTA serves one in six residents of the Commonwealth with direct economic assistance (cash benefits) and food assistance (SNAP benefits), as well as workforce training opportunities.

Department of Unemployment Assistance

The Department of Unemployment Assistance supports Massachusetts workers through challenging times and helps employers navigate the unemployment insurance system.

Department of Youth Services

As the Juvenile Justice agency for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Department of Youth Services promotes positive change in the youth in our care and custody by engaging in partnerships with communities, families, and government and provider agencies. By working in close collaboration with these entities, we can continue to provide rehabilitative services to youth and help make communities better and safer places to live.
