The Trial Court receives close to a million filings a year. The data collected allows for continuous improvements across the Court System.

Summary statistics reflect the type and volume of cases handled across the state over recent years. Court metrics measures clearance rate, time to disposition, age of pending cases and trial date certainty.

Trial Court statistics

Case statistics by Fiscal Year for each of the Trial Court Departments: Boston Municipal Court, District Court, Housing Court, Juvenile Court, Land Court, Probate and Family Court, and Superior Court.

Trial Court quarterly metric reports

The main four case management metrics now in use were developed by the National Center for State Courts. These court tool measurements assess clearance rate, time to disposition, age of pending cases and event date certainty.
