ACCESS collaborates with the Digital Accessibility and Equity Governance Board to provide oversight, policies, and guidance to Secretariats and agencies to optimize digital experiences for internal employees and external constituencies.

Digital Accessibility and Equity Governance Board

The Digital Accessibility and Equity Governance Board aims to promote digital accessibility in the Commonwealth. It will guide the Secretary and the Chief IT Accessibility Officer (CIAO) of the Executive Office of Technology Services and Security (EOTSS) on digital accessibility and equity, including standards, policies, procurement, and federal funding opportunities.

FY2025 Digital Accessibility Working Groups

The board currently has 4 working groups to cover its objectives. These groups provide recommendations and plans of action to advance digital accessibility and equity for all Commonwealth employees and the public.

Policy Updates 

Increase digital equity through the use of inclusive policies and standards for the executive department and beyond.

Community Outreach  

Engage community stakeholders to collect feedback to enhance accessibility across digital channels.

Public Reporting 

Increase accountability and transparency through the use of public reporting to identify trends, gaps, opportunities for improvement and demonstrate maturity.

Accessibility Training Plan 

Provide accessibility training to introduce Commonwealth employees to digital accessibility in conjunction with role-based accessibility requirements.

Our Partners

The ACCESS team partners with agencies to offer collaborative support systems and services around digital accessibility.

Massachusetts Office on Disability (MOD)  

ACCESS partners with MOD to provide testing services, document remediation assistance, assistive technology screen reader demonstrations, additional training opportunities outside of what the ACCESS team offers and assistance with policy maintenance, accessibility tooling usage suggestions and proactive insight on accessibility legal and industry updates.

Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (MCDHH) 

MCDHH provides accessible communication, education, and advocacy to consumers and private and public entities so that programs, services, and opportunities throughout Massachusetts are fully accessible to persons who are deaf and hard of hearing.

Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC) 

MDDC provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities and families to enhance independence, productivity, and inclusion.

Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB) 

MCB provides individualized training, education, and empowerment to people who are legally blind, and advocate for inclusive policies across the Commonwealth, with the goal of life-long independence and full community participation​.

MassAbility 

MassAbility empowers people with disabilities to live life on their own terms. Our programs and services expand possibilities in careers and training, home and community life, and legal rights and benefits – including disability determination for federal programs.
