Guidance from the IRS on treatment of 62F refund

Last week the IRS issued guidance on the federal tax treatment of various state tax payments, including 62F refunds. The guidance is consistent with DOR’s previous guidance on the taxability of those payments. Check out the IRS release for more detail.

MA & Federal Tax Differences

Take a look at the differences between Massachusetts and federal tax treatments for personal income for tax years beginning after January 1, 2022. You’ll find a summary of the most common differences between the Internal Revenue Code and Massachusetts tax code for personal income.

New Tax Law Changes for Tax Year 2022

There are several key personal income and corporate excise tax law changes to read about. Some of those changes include the modification to the exclusion for student loan forgiveness income and the expansion of mandatory electronic filing for corporate excise returns to name a few. Entity Tax Status Certification Deadline Approaches

Save the Date: April 1, 2023, is the deadline to electronically file the annual Certification of Entity Tax Status with DOR. Annually, we publish the Corporations Book that lists corporations or business entities taxable as corporations as of January 1. The book is used by municipal assessors to determine whether entities are eligible for local personal property tax exemptions as corporations.
