Air, Climate and Clean Energy
MassDEP offers grants, loans, assistance, and incentives for reducing facility and vehicle emissions, promoting renewable energy, addressing climate change, and ensuring cleaner air for Massachusetts residents, workers, and visitors.
Brownfields, Waste Sites and Oil Spills
MassDEP works with communities to identify and fund restoration projects across the state under the Natural Resource Damages Program.
We also help cities and towns across the state to prepare for oil spills by placing equipment trailers in local communities and training train local officials to protect sensitive areas.
Massachusetts also provides technical assistance to help municipalities navigate through the Brownfields redevelopment process.
Recycling and Waste Reduction
MassDEP has eight Municipal Assistance Coordinators (MACs) who provide technical assistance on waste reduction and recycling to cities and towns.
We also provide grants and financial assistance as well as information and tools to support municipal recycling and waste reduction efforts.
Water and Wetlands
MassDEP helps cities and towns with a wide range of water quality and wetlands protection issues. Assistance for municipalities includes, but is not limited to, improving water supply infrastructure, complying with federal and state water quality requirements, ensuring safe drinking water, managing stormwater and septic systems, and promoting wetlands protection.
