Fairhaven Community Snapshot

Fairhaven was part of the MVP 2.0 pilot program and worked on a Seed Project focused on stewardship of a few of Fairhaven’s run-down parks. They have also completed a MVP Action Grant focused on conducting a Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment.

Fairhaven's MVP 2.0 Seed Project: Blue Waters and Green Food

Fairhaven received funding to implement a Seed Project that addresses one or more of their climate resilience priorities. Blue Waters and Green Food is a community organization committee that would be committed to stewardship of a few of Fairhaven’s run-down parks. This committee could create spaces for social gathering, education workshops, and attempting grants for Fairhaven to improve these spaces in a way that brings people together. The BWGF committee would have a central group that plans what needs to be done to achieve the goals, and two respective groups for each park (North Park and Grimshaw Park) that act as stewards to make those goals happen. Ideally, and if feasible, we would bay the committee and/or stewards.

Fairhaven's Action Grant Project

The MVP Action Grant provides funding to communities that want to take important steps to prepare for climate change, such as dealing with extreme weather, flooding, rising sea levels, and extreme heat.

Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (FY23)

The Fairhaven Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment was a planning-level study intended to evaluate the coastal vulnerability and risk of municipal infrastructure and natural resources for exposure to sea level rise and coastal storms. The goal of the project was to develop data on likely scenarios and degrees of potential impact in vulnerable areas, and to assist in the prioritization of assets for future adaptation planning and design.
