Uniform Summary Process Rules (USPR)

The Uniform Summary Process Rules (USPR) sets out the standardized procedures for summary-process (eviction and related) cases in Massachusetts’ trial courts, including requirements for how summons must be served, how and when cases are filed and scheduled for trial, how answers and motions are handled, and the availability of jury trials, among other rules.

Court Service Center

Court Service Centers are committed to providing court users equal access to the Courts by helping navigate the Court System. Court Service Centers can answer basic questions, help with court forms, give information about court rules, procedures, and practices, and connect you with community resources. All Court Service Centers are free to court users, but there may be other fees associated with a case, such as filing fees.

Tenancy Preservation Program

The Tenancy Preservation Program (TPP) is a homelessness prevention program that helps find solutions to disability-related issues. TPP works as a neutral party to the landlord and tenant and works in consultation with the Housing Court Department.

Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC)

The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) was established to create more homes and lower housing costs for Massachusetts residents. The EOHLC distributes funding to municipalities, oversees the state-aided public housing portfolio, and operates the state’s Emergency Family Shelter program.
