Important information about SNAP benefits

Because of special circumstances due to the partial federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits for February were issued early and were made available between January 17 and January 20 for the vast majority of SNAP clients. 
 
March SNAP benefits will be available to clients.

SNAP rules and eligibility have not changed. 

 

Q.  What happened with February SNAP benefits?

A. Because of special circumstances due to the partial federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits for February were issued early and were made available between January 17 and January 20 for the majority of SNAP clients.

If you received your regular February SNAP benefit on your EBT card between January 17 and January 20, you will not get another payment in February.

Even though you received your February SNAP benefits in January, they will need to last you through February. We urge you to plan your spending carefully.

EBT cards will continue to be accepted at approved locations during the entire month of February. You can use your SNAP benefits at any retailer that regularly accepts SNAP benefits. You can do this for the entire month of February. Once your February SNAP benefit is on your card. It will stay on your card until you use it. This is true of all SNAP benefits.

Q. What if I did not get my February SNAP benefits early?

A. If you did not get your February SNAP benefits early, please contact DTA to see if you owe DTA any paperwork. Get detailed instructions on checking your case status using DTA Connect.

If you are eligible and are approved or recertified for SNAP benefits in February, you will get them.

Q. Will I get March SNAP benefits?

A. If you are an active SNAP client, or if you are eligible and are approved or recertified for SNAP benefits for March you will get them.

Q. Will the Department of Transitional Assistance offices be open in February and March?

A. Yes, all Department of Transitional Assistance offices will all be open and operating normally during February and March. If you have questions, you can first check the DTA Connect mobile application or website, or contact the Assistance Line at (877) 382-2363.

 

Q. How do I check my balance?

A. You can check your EBT card balance many ways including:

  • The DTA Assistance Line self-service feature (877) 382-2363
  • The DTA Connect website
  • The DTA Connect mobile app
  • By calling the EBT Customer Service number (800) 997-2555 (which is also on the back of your EBT card).

Please note that your EBT balance on the DTA Connect mobile app will be displayed with a 1 day delay. This means that when you check your balance, it will show you your balance as of yesterday.
