Eclipse Events
Parks will be featuring a variety of different activities including:
-
Solar system tour: a scale model of our solar system posted along a ½ mile trail section.
-
Eclipse folding craft: a craft that shows the different stages of the eclipse.
-
Make your own sun clock: a paper-and-string sundial craft.
-
Eclipse Nature Observation Programs: activities that explores how animals behave during the eclipse.
-
Alternate viewing methods: Eclipse glasses are not the only way to observe this event. You can indirectly view the eclipse by projecting the image of the sun through a small aperture. Create a small aperture by interlacing your fingers, crafting a pinhole-projector using a piece of paper, or even using a found object like a colander or perforated spoon. These methods rely on projecting an image of the sun onto a surface, such as your hand or a piece of paper. Never look directly at the sun without eclipse glasses.
All events are from 2:20pm – 4:20pm.
