225 CMR 16.00 establishes requirements for every Retail Electricity Supplier to provide a minimum percentage of kilowatt-hour sales, as determined by the Department, to End-use Customers in the commonwealth from alternative energy generating sources, which include Combined Heat and Power; Flywheels; Efficient Steam Technology; facilities generating Useful Thermal Energy using sunlight, biomass, biogas, liquid biofuel, or waste-to-energy; Fuel Cell Generation Units; or any other alternative energy technology approved by the department under an administrative proceeding conducted under MGL c. 30A.
