The Stretch code was established in 2009 as part of implementing the Green Communities Act of 2008. It allows for municipalities to adopt an above code energy option to comply with the Green Communities Program. The Stretch code was previously published under 780 CMR and overseen by the BBRS in consultation with DOER. Statutory changes establishes a requirement for DOER to create an additional tier of specialized energy code for municipal opt-in and transferred stretch and specialized code promulgation to DOER.
