Fisk Forestdale WMA

Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) are open to the public for fishing, hunting, trapping, hiking, and wildlife viewing.

Description

The property was acquired by MassWildlife in 1935 from the Coonamessett Ranch Company. This WMA is primarily a white oak and pitch pine forest featuring a mature canopy, intermittent acorn crop, and a sparse understory.

Location, access, & parking

There is a small area of parking off of Route 130. The parking area is a road pull off with a break in the split rail fence. See WMA map.

Note: WMAs are intentionally wild, visitors will find natural landscapes rather than maintained trails.

Hunting & fishing opportunities

This area provides sufficient cover for upland game species such as gray squirrel, eastern cottontail, wild turkey, white-tailed deer, and eastern coyote. Note: this property abuts major roads and residences, please observe discharge setbacks.

Wildlife viewing opportunities can include woodland bird species, upland game species, reptiles such as eastern box turtles and unique species of insects that rely on pitch pine forest habitats.
