MassDOT updates its five-year Capital Investment Plan each year. This plan is in effect for state fiscal year 2024, which starts on July 1, 2023, and ends June 30, 2024.
To support the Commonwealth’s transportation system, MassDOT is responsible for:
- Planning
- Funding
- Designing
- Constructing
- Capital Maintenance
These investments are funded through the Capital Investment Plan (CIP), which programs state, federal, and other funds to pay for long-term improvements to the transportation system. It includes all capital expenditures planned for the next five years for MassDOT’s Divisions – Aeronautics, Highway, Rail and Transit, Registry of Motor Vehicles and Planning & Enterprise Services.
