How do customers log in to the new system?
IMPORTANT: You will need an email address to log in to the new MassFishHunt. Requiring a unique email address and password is an important component in a secure system that keeps your information safe. If you do not have an email address or do not wish to provide one, you can still buy licenses or report harvests in-person (see question below).
- If you have ever purchased a fishing or hunting license in Massachusetts, you will be prompted to claim your account in the new system and add an email address and password. Once logged in, you will have access to your order history and any current licenses or permits.
- If you've never had a license before, you can sign up for an account by entering information including an email and password.
How do hunters and trappers report a harvest with the new system?
Shotgun deer season: During the first week of the shotgun deer season (November 29–December 4), all harvested deer must be brought to a physical check station within 48 hours so MassWildlife biologists can collect biological data; online harvest reporting is NOT available during this time. Click here to find a check station near you that is open this fall.
On or after December 1: The new MassFishHunt system will launch on December 1 during hunting season. Your license, permit, and harvest reporting information will transfer seamlessly to the new system. You can simply click “Report a Harvest” and enter your name and existing customer ID to report a harvest without logging in. To get full use of the new MassFishHunt system and purchase licenses online, you will need to claim your account and add an email and password (see question above with log-in instructions). You can claim your online account at any time after the new system launches in December.
Can customers still buy licenses or report harvests in-person?
Most licenses, permits, and stamps can be bought online using MassFishHunt with a computer, smartphone, or tablet. If you do not wish to purchase online, you can still visit a MassWildlife office, Division of Marine Fisheries office, or one of many authorized license vendor locations to buy in-person. Click here for a license agent map.
If you wish to report your harvest in-person, you can find a check station map here.
How does the auto-renew option work?
Starting December 1, customers will have the option to turn on auto-renewal for certain licenses, permits, and stamps. This authorizes MassFishHunt to automatically charge the credit card on file prior to expiration. This convenient, voluntary option was designed so anglers and hunters no longer need to worry about expired licenses or lapses in licensing during transitions to new license years. Customers get to select which products they want to auto-renew and they can deselect items or cancel auto-renew altogether at any time. After logging in, select "Auto-renewals" from the "My Account" menu to change your preferences.
Customers will receive automated reminder emails well in advance before their card is charged, as well as a confirmation email with their new licenses and permits once their auto-renewal is processed. Certain items that require proof of eligibility or annual applications (such as antlerless deer permits) are not available for auto-renewal.
What are linked accounts?
If you're tired of managing all of your family members’ accounts using separate credentials, you will be happy to learn of a new feature called “Linked Accounts” available in the new MassFishHunt system. Linked accounts provide a streamlined solution to update account information for your family members and purchase products in a single transaction without logging in and out of each account.
What if customers need help using the new system?
As we approach launch day on December 1, updates and tutorials will be added to this page to help make this transition as seamless as possible for all customers. Once the new system launches, additional customer support resources will be provided.
