The Supreme Judicial Court Rules Committee solicits comments on proposed amendments to SJC Rules 4:01 and 4:02 and to the Rules of the Board of Bar Overseers (Board). The Board has proposed the changes described in the attached memorandum dated June 15, 2018. The changes to the SJC Rules address resignation of an attorney while under disciplinary investigation and establish a new registration category for attorneys on active duty in the military. Among the proposed changes to the Board rules are provisions addressing remote live testimony at disciplinary hearings, and provisions addressing the form and content of briefs in appeals to the Board.
In addition to the Board's letter, the proposed amendments to each set of rules in both clean and redlined versions appear at the links below. Comments should be directed to Christine P. Burak, Supreme Judicial Court, John Adams Courthouse, One Pemberton Square, Boston, MA 02108 on or before December 14, 2018. Comments may also be emailed to email@example.com. Comments received will be made available to the public.
